Anti-ageing skin care products are very popular today

Anti-ageing skin care products are very popular today; which is not surprising because we are all living longer and fuller lives so why shouldn\’t we want to look younger? We achieve this with beauty products that synthesize the production of the protein collagen; approximately one quarter of the protein contained in skin is collagen. This area of anti-ageing treatments is connected to another group of products that help people to look young; these are known as antioxidants which remove toxins from the body.

You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.

Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.

Found in human blood, vitamin E is not only an antioxidant but is designed to boost the immune system\’s resistance to illness; there is some evidence to show it helps prevent diseases including cancer. On the other hand, lipoic acid or alpha-lipoic acid is necessary for energy production which keeps us alive; it is also known to combat the signs of aging very effectively by repairing skin damage caused by the aging process.

Phytochemicals aren\’t produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. Another benefit of phytochemicals, like those of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers; such as:

*Prostate Cancer in Men *Breast Cancer *Cancer that attacks the Colon

These are some of the most common (and increasingly so) cancers in the world today.

Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. This is a vast area that has the potential for many new anti-ageing skin care products and services in the future but research needs to continue. There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle; with the number of genetic discoveries made in recent years, it is only a matter of time before conquering the effects of age is commonplace.

In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use. It may be time to learn that not every synthetic anti-aging product is going to work; it is doubtful if science can replace natural skin care remedies. You know all these things but how many do you practice? Regular exercise, restful sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress levels low are all necessary.Tags: , ,
